You are absolutely right.
Let me suggest yet another way of getting X through an IP masquerading
router.
ssh http://www.ssh.fi/sshprotocols2/
It makes a tunnel through the net, the tunnel can be encrypted and
authenticated with strong encrypting techniques, _and_ it's the most
painless way to use X from one machine to another, since it automatically
handles the boring details like DISPLAY.
X in itself has a lot of security problems, by using ssh as the only means
of using X over the network you can switch off most of the more "usefull"
security "feautures" in your X installations.
