Hello!

        These days we have some strange problems
Consider a net like this

internet
-------->cisco router-+---->debian hamm as a ras--> 30 modems
                      +---->debian slink as a host/server
                      +---->debian hamm as a host
                      +---->NT as a server
                      +---->NT as a ipx server(I know I can change it
                      | to linux but that's my boss idea.)
                      +---->NT host
                      +----> 3*win95 hosts

Connecting all of this is a 3com switch at 10Mbit

The problem is that some times I cannot send any packets to our net,
but access from/to internet works.
linux kernel's version are all 2.0.36 vanilla
NIC's are realtek's chip (PCI on linux and on NT server)
The routing table is set up right.(-net and default)

So, no ping's to each other box.
----------------------------------
the ifconfig eth0 on the linux box are

eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:00:21:49:D7:87
          inet addr:net.net.net.aaa  Bcast:net.net.net.255 Mask:255.255.255.128
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:301460 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:197
          TX packets:289832 errors:32 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:64
          Collisions:545
          Interrupt:12 Base address:0xd800
---------------------------------
eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:00:21:4E:CB:F0
          inet addr:net.net.net.bbb  Bcast:net.net.net.255 Mask:255.255.255.128
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:14159040 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:340
          TX packets:13633846 errors:52 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:104
          Collisions:10630
          Interrupt:10 Base address:0xdf80

The linux host almost nothing to show.

This problem started to show recently. I have no logs of things
unusual.

My Questions are. What can be happening?
Could it be the switch?
or the router?

Bye
    Carlos Barros.
