Hello,
We are trying to set up a box to emulate a whole host of boxes,
and therefore giving each ethernet interface multiple IP addresses. I have
successfully got ip_aliasing working, and had 100 IP addresses on the one
machine. Two questions:
* What is the limit on the number of addresses, and is this per
machine/per interface. It appears that it is 256 (not sure per what) in
the 2.0 series, but not in 2.1.126...
* We will also require a large number of (PCI) 10/100 ethernet cards to do
this with - multiple per machine. Has anyone done this before, if so can
you recommend a card? We usually use 3Com, and I had 2 3c905 (boomerang)
cards running, but this was just a test bed. Again. is there a maximum
number per machine (apart from number of PCI slots available)?
Thanks,
Alan
