Problem #1:
>From the Documentaion/networking/alias.txt file:
# ifconfig eth0:0 down
~~~~~~~~~~ -> will delete alias
This does NOT work under Linux 2.2.2 with ifconfig1.38 from net-tools1.50
(or pre 1.51). using the ifconfig1.33 from net-tools 1.45 works...however,
that version of ifconfig does NOT show ip aliases using the new 2.2.x aliasing
code.
Problem #2:
How do I set the number of aliases allowed to be more than 256?
The ip aliasing mini-HOWTO says to change the value in the file:
/linux/net_alias.h However, there is no setting to change there.
This has been an ongoing problem since Dec 1998 and I have gotten no straight
answers from anyone. The linux-net archives had nothing useful either...
The setting appears to be defaulted higher in 2.2.x, but it would be nice to
know where to go to change this value.
Any help would be appreciated.
