Hi,

I just switched my machine from a Dell Penium 200 to a custom
Tyan Trinity 100AT (S1590S). I am running kernel 2.2.3 with all
the rpm updates for it. I have the same exact ethernet card in my
machine: 3com 3c905 TX PCI. I set the media type to 10BaseT which
disabled full duplex (correct I believe). What I'm seeing is
a lot of errors and collisions on my ethernet card. In about 10 min
I total of over 1500 errors when transferring a 13MB file to a
Linux 2.0.35 machine.

I know there've been a lot of complaints about TCP performance being
slow but I didn't notice that at all between my Win98 box and Linux 2.2.3
box. Here's a print out of my ifconfig eth0:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:A0:24:CF:59:95
          inet addr:128.29.222.189 Bcast:128.29.222.255
Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:18837 errors:1515 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:2640
          TX packets:10644 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:4293
          collisions:1170 txqueuelen:100
          Interrupt:9 Base address:0xec00

I'm going to try another 3c905 TX PCI card then an Intel 100B card.
If I get the same results, I'm going to see if it's the switch or hub
on my floor or what.

Thanks,
Tuan
