Hi, I'm new to this newsgroup.

Can anyone tell me under what situation you will get duplicate echo reply
packet when you ping a host ?

I wrote a small shell script to ping some major ISP around the world to
generate a historical html page. Recently, I found that a host will
always generate duplicate packet. I understand that to generate a
duplicate echo reply packet, all we need to do is just ping to our
network IP or broadcast IP (x.x.x.0 or x.x.x.255).

Are there any other situation to make this happen? How do I trace this
or troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advanced.
