My personal bias is for 3Com. If its ISA, the 3C509, if you have PCI and want
100 Mbit, the 3C905 is good. Both have lifetime warrenties and are cheap. Can
you get cheaper, yeap, probably half or one-third the price of one of these
cards, but I've never had a problem with them on 95/NT or Linux. If you cheap
all around, I believe it was PCwarehouse that I saw a pair of NIC's, a 4 port
hub for less than $100.
