I reported in the past that I had a Cabletron card with this chip and,
though the lance.c driver could not detect it, I had forced the detection
to find it has a chip id 2261 (plain 79C961 is 2260).

The thing sort of works but I get Tx FIFO errors like these:

Mar 26 11:18:30 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02ea.
Mar 26 11:18:45 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02e2.
Mar 26 11:22:22 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02ea.
Mar 26 11:22:22 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02ea.
Mar 26 11:22:22 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02e2.
Mar 26 11:22:22 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02ea.
Mar 26 11:22:22 murillo kernel: eth2: Tx FIFO error! Status 02ea.

Sometimes does not harm too much, sometimes the card seems to lock
for minutes, sometimes it gets locked pretty solid.

ifconfig shows:

eth2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:1D:1B:62:89
          inet addr:195.235.83.129 Bcast:195.235.83.255 Mask:255.255.255.128

          collisions:22441 txqueuelen:100
          Interrupt:5 Base address:0x300 DMA chan:3

This card is connected with a crossed cable to a host (no hub). Might the
cable be deffective? Any hint on how to make this card work? My kernel
is 2.2.2, BTW.

Thanks in advance,

Julio
