Hi,

I have two Linux boxes, much the same as those described on the mailing
list. I took the easy way out and bought a cross wired cable.

However, I also have the problem that ping works to the local host, but
not to the other.

office1 has an Intel eexpress 10/100 and office2 has a realtek ne2000.
They are connected by a crossover UTP cable.

The netstat -r looks like this:

Office 2's netstat -r looks the same, except the top line says
"office2".
office1 has IP address 192.168.0.1 and office2 has IP address
192.168.0.2

When I try to ping 192.168.0.2 (office2) from office1, it just hangs,
and when I hit control-C it says there's been 100% packet loss. However,
the light on the ethercard on office2 flashes, so packets are being
sent  - it just isn't responding. Likewise when I try it the other way
around.

When I ping 192.168.0.0 from office2, I get duplicate packets from
192.168.0.1 (office1), so there must be a connection, just a problem
with reponses.

Do you have an idea of what's going on? I'd appreciate all the help you
can give me.
