I put following lines in /etc/rc.d/rc.local file of RH 5.2 box

/sbin/ifconfig eth0:0  192.168.5.1 broadcast 192.168.5.255 netmask
255.255.255.0 up

other than 'route add' etc but even then the aliasing is not done. Can you
guide more in this aspect?
