Why not?! Linux (and most unix) systems are built with full
networking support in mind :-)

Yes. You can start by giving each PC an IP address from the private
networks range. i.e. 10.0.0.0 -> 10.255.255.255, 172.16.0.0 ->
172.31.255.255, 192.168.0.0 -> 192.168.255.255. (Don't choose 0 or
255 as the last byte). Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and you
should be able to ping between the two. After this, you can use NFS
to share files across the network, ftp, telnet etc etc.

Again, yes. Set up TCP/IP on the Win95 box, install an Xserver
application. Telnet into the linux box, set your display
environment to the Win95 PC and start X applications!
