I'm trying to configure a server to use ETRN to request queued
mail from another Linux machine running Sendmail 8.9.0.

I've got the primary server (Exchange) logged in, and receiving
the mail perfectly when sent. When it disconnects, the second
MX record is pointed to my regular mail server. The problem is
that mail addressed to 'root@domain' ends up in the root mail
box for my mail server, and not in a queue.

How do I get it to properly queue the mail until the ETRN command
comes from the remote server, and how does the local mail server
know to continue queueing the mail once the primary MX server
  has disconnected?
