Can anybody please help with following? My friend have 3c509
card. If he issues "ifconfig up", the card starts to warp up until
becoming very hot (not the whole card, but IC labeled DP8392CN, to be
precise), even if no physical cable is attached to it. It works for some
time, transmitting and receiving packets OK. He didn't try to run it for
long, since card looks like it might be damaged by very high temperature.

Exactly the same cards (there are two of them, brand new, both
with the same behaviour) in the same PC works just slightly warm under
FreeBSD. He've tried both 1.10 and 1.16 versions of 3c509 driver. Cards
parameters tested was io=310h,320h; irq=5,9-12 with the same results.
NVRAM settings: BNC, PnP, half duplex, network driver optimization -
server. Tried it on different PCs (p200mxx, 486 (pentium overdrive
83mhz)) -- the same effect.

        Any ideas, please?
