that depends on what type router you have..
for ex. a linux box acting as a router ,,you can install whatever
you want but, if it is Cisco/others and have their own os, and
somtimes even without a harddisk! then you can't simply put snmpd
in them .. if it is not there.
Anyway check on you router, check if it is disabled ..
