You might want to have a look at My-SQL, I am in the process of
doing a similar thing and had it recomended to me, it has a lot of plugins
available for web intergration, PERL ad ons etc etc etc.
sorry I don't have the url for it handy so you might wanna do a search for
it.

Hi all,
I'm developing a database with a Web frontend. It won't be used much
as data entry, but mainly as a search system. As such, is there and advice
regarding the "link" between Postgress and Apache server? I'm using both
packages as they come with RH5.2, and currently I was thinking in
developing CGI scripts in C with ESQL to access the database. Any
experience?
