Don't do that! You can either use the chkconfig command as root (see man
page), or manually rename /etc/rc.d/rc<n>.d/S35smb to K35smb, substituting
the runlevel for <n>. This will stop the Samba daemon (if running) when
you enter this runlevel. BTW, the '35' is the default, but could be
different. See the RedHat manual, section 11.11.2 and 11.11.4 for more
info.
