You probably overconfigured. Leave the 'user-domain' empty, and the
default mail "return" address will use your Linux box's hostname. See the
context-sensitive help in the Pine configuration menu.
You could also have the mail administrator of the Unix box redirect your
mail to your Linux box. For more background on Internet mail routing,
read the Linux Network Administrator's Guide (included on most CD
distributions).
