Hello Glynn, I seem to have something amiss in my thoughts
about how secondary email is setup . I am attempting to verify
the setup of filesrv2(aka ns2) as a secondary MX host . I am
using the Sendmail book's example on how to test this IE:
mail -s"test backup mailserver"
[EMAIL PROTECTED] <~/junk
This produces ( this is not the full transcript )
...snip...
Subject: Returned mail: User unknown
...snip...
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to filesrv2.baby-dragons.com.:
>>> RCPT To:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
<<< 550 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... User unknown
550 [EMAIL PROTECTED] User unknown
...snip...
All I can see is that filesrv2 doesn't know how to process
the '%' hack as the book puts it .
Are their any other methods of testing this -without- shutting
down my local network ? And does the above show something
else misconfigured ? If you need anything else I'll try to
get it out onto my (slow) web-page , very small link here .
Tia, JimL
