I'm using exactly the same setup and it works fine.
To read the mail via IMAP we use Netscape.
I did found useful to setup a separate directory under each username to
store the IMAP mail (Netscape setup options) otherwise you can get funny
effects when you �pdate Folders" under Netsacpe Messenger
