Hai there...!
I have a LAN (192.168.111.0) and all the computers in this using Win95 ( as you can
guess). I want to setup a server so that my LAN has access to the internet using this
server (or host ?). And the server OS is Linux and using modem to connect to ISP. I
don't want to use IP-Masquerade.
So, what I have to set in my server to allow my LAN to access to internet (my LAN is
an internet cafe or cyber cafe). Let say that I have setup my network card properly
and have no problem to connect to ISP using modem.
I have heard about gateway but is it a computer's IP address (that is a server or
host).
Do I have to type :
route add default gw 192.168.111.110 eth0
on my Linux box ?
Do I have to set my LAN to use the server's IP address as the gateway ?
Let say in my resolv.conf file, I set the nameserver to my ISP address. Is it OK ?
What does it mean by default route option in options file to dial to ISP ?
Does it mean my LAN have to use this default route to access to the internet ?
Can you give your route -n output ?
Do you know about this ?
Is there any equivalent thing about socks in Linux like in Windows world ?
Best regard,
