you need to have two DNS servers housing your IP address.
either let mediaone continue handling your DNS, or else you need to set up
one of your machines as primary and the other as secondary. its not too
hard at all, the DNS-howto is very well written and i got i all working in
less than an hour (and it was my first attempt). if you've only got the two
computers, i would recommend the first option. the only drawback really
(besides possibly a small fee) is that if you want to add more names to
your network (www.xyz.com, ftp.xyz.com, etc) you will always need to ask
them to include it, instead of being able to do it yourself.

yes. if you dont have your own DNS servers, you need to tell mediaone to
point www.xyz.com to the IP address of your web server at home. if you have
your own DNS servers, you just add it to your named config files. again,
the DNS howto is very helpful, and very clearly written.
