Hi all,
this is a funny thing:
Setting up a little Linux machine (Red Hat 5.2, kernel 2.0.36, eth:
3c90x) I gave it the address 192.0.1.50 with a default gateway
192.0.1.254.
The result was that pinging to certain IPs (i.e. 192.0.1.9 or
192.0.1.26) there was a reply, while pinging to others up and running
machines (i.e. 192.0.1.14 or 192.0.1.31) there was no response even if
they was working in my network.
Giving my beloved box an ip 10.254.1.50 (def. gw 10.254.1.254)
everything was fine and I could ping inside and outside every machine
(also the ones from which there was no response before).
How can this happen ?
Are there some hints/tricks for getting this work ?
Thanks Nicola.
