i'm running RH5.2 with a lancity cable modem and a 3com card too.
i run it with the default v .70 that comes with RH5.2.
when i upgraded to 6.0 for a week they told me that the newer version required
the 2.2.x kernel. you might try getting the new kernel or downgrading your
dhcpcd
