We're talking about two different things.  We agree that PASV and PASS are
sent over the wire between client and server.  That's quite irrelevant to
my point.

My point remains that the Berkeley ftp client that is distributed with
Linux has as part of its *user interface* a "passive" command (which can be
abbreviated to "pass") and this is most unfortunately not documented.
