Having read all I can find about setting up an IPX interface under Red Hat
5.2, I find that slist cannot see my Netware 3 server over the LAN after it
is configured.
Am I missing something here?
I have a Netware 3 server on an 802.3 network which has been duly wired
into an ethernet card on my Linux box.
ipx_configure auto_primary and auto_interface are on
Once I bring up the ether card , /proc/net/ipx_interface reports
Network Node_address Primary Device Frame_type
000000000 00001B507421 Yes eth1 802.3
After a short while the network address changes to
0000003 which looks ok.
slist returns:
No server found in ncp_open
The node address is always the hardware card address even when I try and
set it to something else manually.
ifconfig shows the card is receiving lots of packets and displays some
transmitted packets presumably from the slist call, all with no errors
reported.
The ipxsend/ipxrcv test progs from duly send and receive:
>From 00000003:00001B507421:4000
Got "Hi Mom"
So the ether card seems ok etc.
One thing though, the howto on IPX was a little ambiguous over what they
call a network address and never mentions node address.
Am I correct in thinking that each 802.3 interface must have a unique node
address but have the same "address of the network" to see other traffic?
I've tried configuring the eth1 network address to several different
network addresses, (except the node address which remains the same) alas
all to no avail.
Any ideas?
