Another option would be to look into Compaq printservers
(rapid print series). We use the rapid print 200's. I'm not
sure of their price, but they support tcp/ip,lat, lpd, appletalk
and novell protocols. They have two ports, one parralell which
will support both dataproducts configuration and centronics
as well as a serial port. By tcp/ip, I mean socket support.

 Netatalk
allows linux systems to print to Appletalk printers.
