Hi,
I'm using a new Compaq Proliant Serveur with Pentium III 550Mhz and 600 Mo RAM. I have installed Linux RH 6.0 (Kernel 2.2.5). The network card is a Compaq wich use the TLAN network driver. I use an IP and the 'ifconfig eth0:y xx.xx.xx.xx' command followed by the 'route add -host xx.xx.xx.xx dev eth0:y' command to add 17 more IP address on the same card. The problem is that the network come and go without any reason. You are connected and oups, you are not connected without any warning. I can't find any log to explain why. So I thought it was a 'sleep mode' problem, but it isn't, first because there is none on this server and last because sometime I am deconnected 5 min after a request and sometime 1 hour after. So I change the network card to a D-Link (I use the Via Rhine driver), and it was the same thing. OK so I decided to compile the 2.2.12 kernel but I never manage to do it because of a kernel panic that I can't debug (problem with my SCSI driver NCR53c8xx. ). I try the 2.0.38 also but I can't compiled, also because of the SCSI. What's strange is that sometimes all the eth0:y don't work, sometimes they all work, sometimes only some works with no logic at all. Is someone can help me, I'm desesperate ... Best regards to all, Laurent SEROR. |
