I seem to remember that you use slackware 4.0, unless you really like
hacking with printcap try installing these packages from redhat 5.2:
tim@baneberry:/var/log/packages> ls *.gz
control-panel-3.7-7.i386.tar.gz printtool-3.29-3.noarch.tar.gz
mpage-2.4-5.i386.tar.gz rhs-printfilters-1.46-3.i386.tar.gz
This lets you use that excellent printtool from redhat.
These packages are made by rpm2targz from the cpio package.

Microsoft doesn't know how to fight Linux.
Linux is really a dangerous opponent; a hydra which grows two heads when
you strike one off; a fast-evolving virus that Microsoft has no cure for.
Other organisms - companies - have adapted to it, learned from it, taken
advantage of it - and most importantly - helped it grow and flourish.
