I used exactly the same cards with RedHat 5.1 and they worked
fine. Of course after solving some obvious problems - what port
and irq are assigned to which card (the worse, I have 3 cards).
I noticed driver for NE2000 clones (what is its name: ne? ne2?
ne2k?) finds these PCI boards, too, therefore I needed load
their driver first to use it, then the driver for NE2000-s.
Obvious problems are with assigning port and, worse, irq.
The board allows several irq-s, and almost all are used by
other devices. And, if irq is assigned to PCI, it is not
recognized from ISA card. I needed check what irq my card
uses, then reset computer, enter BIOS setup, assign the irq
to ISA, and make sure enough irq-s are assigned to PCI...
Have you checked what port/irq is your card configured for?
Have you checked the irq is for ISA, and there is no port
conflict with another card? This usually solves problems.

I would suggest doing it after succesful trying modprobe
to access the card, when you know hardware is OK and what
parameters are needed to get it working. I don't remember:
does the NE2000 driver detect irq or it must be specified?
