Hello everyone, A while back Steve Dodd reported transfer problems using ppp. Was the problem ever resolved in any way ? I'm experiencing similar stuff using ppp over a null cable between two debian boxes. One box has a 100Mbit ethernet card with T1 connection and is used as router (pppd 2.3.10, kernel 2.2.10). The other hangs by a 1.5 m serial cable (pppd 2.3.10, tried kernels 2.0.36, 2.2.12 and currently running 2.3.24). I've tried different baudrates over 19200, mtu settings etc. I've double checked the cable and so on. The symptoms are: - transfer goes ok for a few seconds i.e. scp shows progress and netleds show packet traffic - transfer stalls, with VJ decompression errors unless -vj is given to pppd, no packets are exchanged for a while - transfer resumes after a couple of packets are exchanged slowly - transfer stalls.. and so on.. Would a tcpdump give some clue to anyone here ? I'll try using SLIP next because the serial line is always up, but the pppd setup was so easy that I tried it first.
