I am having some problems with a machine running redhat 6.1. Its seems that
when I try to connect to this machine from a host on another subnet or from
outside the local network it will not accept connections or return icmp
packets. I have to telnet to the switch or be on the same class C subnet as
hostA too gain access to this machine. But once I ping hostB from hostA for
some strange reason hostA will now accept connections from hostB. I have
found this to be the case will two machines that I have just setup with
redhat 6.1.
