I have a Linux box talking to a PLC.
If the PLC is configured for 802.3 instead of ethernetII the Linux box
can't communicate to the PLC but NT machines still can.
Using a packet sniffer I can the the Linux machine requesting the
hardware address via ARP (using ethernetII), I can also see the PLC
responding (using 802.3). But the Linux machine continues to request
the address even though it was already sent to it.
The other problem is that the specs for the job require that ALL
communications be performed using 802.3, and ethernetII is forbidden.
How do you force that action.
