Hi,
We have some scanners connected via "y" cables on my
test line (to Windows machines though). They share
the same port as the keyboard, so they should work
just like the keyboard.
I went over to one of them just now, brought up a
command window and scanned a box. The control number
came up at my prompt, just like if I had typed it...
So I don't *think* your linux box has any way of
knowing that the data is coming from a scanner rather
than a keyboard! The only thing that you may need to
do is set up the scanner to emulate the right kind of
keyboard...
-- If I get a chance later, I will hook up a scanner
to my linux box and see if it works the same way.
