Hi there,
A few weeks ago I started a thread regarding favicons and error entries
in my Apache server logs... As the thread ended I put up
a few favicons for linux-net users to use. That was fine and quite a few
subscribers recovered the images and then demand slowed as expected.
Most people by the way chose the Linux-Penguin!!!
The addresses are http://www.ecomfactory.com/favicons
or ftp://ftp.ecomfactory.com/pub/favicons
Then over the past 2-3 days, my poor startled Linux system (2.0.36)
has taken a terrific punishment with literally thousands of web hits
and tranfers (ftpd - xferlog). The primary demand comes from Germany and Norway
with several hits from Japan and Austria.
So it has become obvious that our site has been listed somewhere else. While
we think that this is great, we have no idea where it is.
Has anyone seen references to the above sites on their travels through Linux?
I have already looked through Freshmeat etc. but nothing there.
By the way, by FAR the most popular favicon has been the Linux-Penguin in the
tar.gz form. It accounts for more than 90% of the hits with the Blue Apple
a distant second.
As for the Linux system, well its running beautifully without problem and
no errors. I have a few more grey hairs!!
Please reply to me directly rather than cluttering up the linux-net if you
can - my mail address is mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Regards,
Bruce.
