I've been told that something calling itself L2TP, which apparently is
some sort of unholy union between Microsoft's PPTP and Cisco's L2F is
being promoted in some quarters as a VPN standard. I've been asked if
Linux supports it. Sigh.

A quick search with google revealed at least a preliminary implementation
for Linux,
    http://www.marko.net/l2tp/
but it also looks like there has not been a release for over a year.

Is this the latest and greatest? Is this the sort of thing that I ought
to discourage people about when they ask if Linux supports it?
