I require an ethernet driver for Linux that supports VLAN tagging (802.1Q)
for the 3COM 3C980 card.
I found a Linux driver for this card but the driver doesn't support VLAN
tagging. This driver is located at
http://support.3com.com/infodeli/tools/nic/linux/3c90x-1.0.0e.tar.gz.
A helpful person at NASA provided the following information:
802.1Q VLAN requires additional kernel support -- the only driver aspect
is
the slightly increased packet size and an optimization when the hardware
computes the IP checksum.
I am hopeful that someone on this mailing list can help as I'm not having
any luck finding a driver. If you can help, please provide any of the
following information:
1. Address where I can get a working driver
2. Dates when a driver might be available
3. Any information regarding the kernel support and optimization issues
discussed above
