Go for an Apple Mac PowerBook G3/400
You can run
1. Mac OS
2. Win95/98/NT/DOS (whats the difference?)
3. Redhat Linux (quite good)
4. Yellow Dog Linux (so so)
5. and we are experimenting with Suse Linux under VPC AND Suse has
announced...
6. Suse 6.3 native for PowerPC. (This will be good)
7. OS-X which is a MACH kernel based version of Unix rebuilt for the Apple
environment. Rumoured to be good although we will wait until OS-X-1.1.
8. There is also LinuxPPC 1999 although I have had a lot of trouble with
the most recent version.
9. There's MKLinux - a variation on a theme
10. There's PowerPC Linux Release 4 or better
On top of that once you've evolved from the M$ mire to the Apple systems
you never go back!!!
And yes you can run all that M$ word, excel, access etc... if you really want to.
Best part about is that you can have multiple copies of stuff like Windoze
and if/WHEN they corrupt you trash the whole copy and use another.
AND the colours/sound are brilliant. Gaming however is VERY slow under VPC.
and thats my 2p's worth...
Regards,
Bruce.
