linux automatic hostname setup

I was at school today, and noticed that my linux hostname was automatically set
to something that I didn't set it to.  How would someone do this?  I want to
be able to do it on my home network.  The funny thing is, is that we are using
an NT network at school!

p.s.
I have a linux server (RedHat 6.1) at home.
