You should probably mount it as "vfat"  and not "msdos" or the filenames will
be a bit messed up.

Also be careful about editing important files from /mnt/win with Gnu/Linux
text editors, because msdos uses carriage returns and line feeds, and *nix
don't. Use win/dos editors to edit dos files.

If you re-install windows, you can specify a directory other than C:\windows.
Also, when you re-install windows you can get a folder called "wininst.400" or
something similar.

You can check your c:\msdos.sys file for the location of windows.

The desktop is in C:\windows\desktop, or
c:\_whereverYouInstalledWindows_\desktop.
