I'm using a Cyrix166 as my primary server, and I suspect my PCI NIC is too fast for the old one... I've already modified the via-rhine driver to get rid of some error messages and fixed some other stuff (but Don told me I merely skipped the error checks... well I don't know, the files are the same when I've copied 500MB so...), and now it copies a 500MB file over SMB in 6 minutes which makes around 12Mbit (previously, a 500MB file took 30 minutes (because of NIC resets?)). But still, my CD burning process hangs when transferring files over around 10MB, and I only burn 2x (IDE). I guess the NIC saturates the IRQ's, can this be my problem? Is it possible to do some waiting mechanism in the NIC driver to get other interrupts processed? Or am I completely out in the blue now? Kernel 2.2.12 DFE-530TX (two cards with twisted cable between, other card in Windows machine) The (self)modified via-rhine driver I use is at (same problem with original driver though) http://www.cs.umu.se/~c97men/linux/ _____________________________________________________ | Martin "NetBus" Eriksson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | MSc CSE student, department of Computing Science | Ume University, Sweden - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
