Ok, here is what my friend sent me:

There was something i had to do to freessco to get NM to work.  I had to open
ports.....let me see if i can find the website or the ports.

I took a look at this and it may work but seems to be a huge security risk. The
info says to open several ports below 1024 and ALL ports from 1024 to 65525. He
and I use the Freesco linux router on a floppy (www.freesco.org) but the page
shows normal settings for ipfwadm and ipchains.
