Hello Linux-net mailing list readers,

I hope this is an active mailing list. I was just using linux-kernel, but am now
trying this list. I was hoping for an FAQ from majordomo, but I guess there is none.

My basic problem is that I am running 6.1 Red Hat Linux, and there does not appear to
be any NFS locking service present. Applications that try to use locks fail. The
"Connectathon" test suite has locking tests, which fail when I try to access a Red Hat
partition from HP-UX. I am running the Red Hat "nfslock" configuration item that
provides a statd and lockd.

Typing "nfs lock" at the Red Hat site prompt reveals other people have had issues with
this locking, but no clear solutions. There appear to be two types of lock
implementations, kernel based and user space. Some comments indicate that the user
space daemon does not work, and that is the one we have.

Does anyone know how interested in NFS the Red Hat folks are? I was looking at the
list of Connectathon 2000 participants, and do not see Red Hat.

>From a high level, what would you advise me to do to get this working?

Peter
