I have a weird problem where ping (and other services) only works when I log into the machine locally or from my lan. if I connect from the internet, ping only sends one packet, receives it, then stops. for example: telnet from internet to my gateway, ping anywhere, ping fails. telnet from my lan to gateway, ping anywhere, ping works telnet from internet to my lan, telnet to gateway, ping works some services such as my database connection, ping, & traceroute only work if I log in from a local machine. why would the machine I log in from affect the behavior of services on that machine? - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
