Well i have installed Solaris 2.6 for Intel on my machine and i am using
this.
But I am facing a problem, I am not able to browse the Internet as well as
I am not able to resolve the hostname automatically.
Although I create /etc/resolv.conf
the content of resolv.conf is given below.
search bits-pilani.ac.in
nameserver 202.54.26.125
nameserver 192.168.1.155
Here after creating this file I execute the command nslookup
after executing nslookup this output i am getting.
bash-2.02# nslookup
Default Server: devil.bits-pilani.ac.in
Address: 202.54.26.125
> devil
Server: devil.bits-pilani.ac.in
Address: 202.54.26.125
Name: devil.bits-pilani.ac.in
Address: 202.54.26.125

So as like this using nslookup i can grep or can know all of the hosts
ipc address or even internet address also.
But when on command prompt if i say ping staff or ping asura or ping devil
that time it is not resolving the ip address of the machine.
So i need to give the ip address or either i have to make the entery in
the /etc/hosts files to make them working on the host name mean the
resolving the IP address of a host is not working.
I want that this work (resolving the ip address) and along with this it
work on the Internet also.
Please guide me what i need to do and what i need not to do.
When i install i did't select any services.
I just selete "others" when it is asking about DNS,NIS,NFS etc.
please let me know as soon as possible.
