I need to change the number of SYN retries in TCP to just 1 i.e. if the SYN pkt is dropped the linux box should assume that the server is unavailable. Can I achieve this by changing the value of /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_retries1 and tcp_retries2. What is the significance of tcp_retries1 and tcp_retries2 ?
