Debian 2.2 is up and running now and with all your help I think the settings 
are correct.  I can reboot and using dmesg | less see that eth0 is 
configured to IRQ 10.  This agrees with the netbios setup.  I can ping to 
the loopback and to the IP address, as well as to the host, (all on the same 
computer) but not to the router (off in another part of the building, 
provided by the ISP).  However, the led for the nic card isn't blinking at 
all during any of this.  I am using the same RJ45 port for the Linux box as 
I used for a Windows machine, and had no problem with networking Windows.  
Also, I had Windows installed on this Linux box before, and the card worked 
fine.  I feel like the card is good, but am missing the boat somewhere.  
Help!
