Opening the device more than once...

Hello, I wanted to know if the dev->open method provided in the struct device called as many times as I open the device (through setting the IFF_UP flag, or is there any other way of opening the device??) What I want to know is - Is the open method called if an interface is already open? Thanks in advance.   Regards Vinay
