Thank you plenty for your reply, I am going to try the recompile path since
the XFree86.0.log reports a failure to load the agpgart module I have now
installed.
This is the third time I have replied to your helpful mail, the previous two
included attachments which maybe was the reason for the mail's failure to
make it to you.
Anyway I am very grateful for your help and will endeavour to remember that
linux-net is for network related problems only.
