You do this with
ifconfig eth0:0 ipaddress netmask 255.x.x.x broadcast x.x.x.255 up
then do ifconfig
You should see three devices 
lo eth0 and eth0:0
you can then add more continuing in the same thread i.e eth0:1 eth0:2 etc
But you must have ip alias configured in the kernel but most likely it
will be there.
