I checked /var/log/syslog and found that my dialup script was still trying to connect to msn even though I had changed /etc/ppp/my-chat-script and /etc/resolv.conf to reflect earthlink Apparently the system uses /etc/ppp/peers/provider which was set up some time ago using pppconfig for use with msn. Once I manually changed the tel number and account name as password for earthlink everthing ran just fine -- David ------------------------- www.richsob.com
